In August of 2006 the Thompson's were on vacation in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan and found this very remote lighthouse on the shores of Lake Superior. Crisp Point was built in 1904 and has been listed as the most endangered lighthouse in the United States. An historical society has been restoring and working to preserve this lighthouse as one of Michigan's best kept secrets.
In order to find Crisp Point, one must travel down several miles of dirt, two track roads. As you follow the winding dirt roads through the forests of the Upper Peninsula suddenly just as you come around the last corner, the forest opens up exposing the vast Lake Superior. It is an amazingly beautiful sight!
As we explored Crisp Point and took many photos, we realized that Crisp Point would make the perfect logo image for Beacon of Hope for a couple of reasons. First, in the brochure about Crisp Point it said this, "The solitude and tranquility felt at the light are irreplaceable....All troubles seem small when surrounded by the power of God." This is so true and it's what Beacon of Hope offers each client....the opportunity to have peace, solitude, hope in the midst of their troubles all of which are found only through the grace of God.
The second reason we felt Crisp Point would be perfect for our logo is that as a lighthouse it's mission is to keep the sailors safe by spreading light in the midst of darkness. At Beacon of Hope, it is that light or hope that we offer to each client ~ the light of our savior, Jesus Christ. He is the only true light in the midst of our darkness.
