Kyle Thompson, MA, LPC
Executive Director, Counselor
Serving Holland, Grandville & Portland locations
Kyle Thompson serves as Executive Director of Beacon of Hope. He grew up in the Nazarene Church and holds a BS degree from Olivet Nazarene University. Kyle felt the call to go into counseling after working in the business world for many years. He answered that call and completed his MA from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary at Cornerstone University. To further the ministry, Kyle has recently completed his Ed.D in Ethical Leadership at Olivet Nazarene University.
Kyle has a deep passion for working with teenagers; while completing his counseling degree, he worked closely with troubled youth through the juvenile programs at Ottawa County Family Court. Upon the completion of his state licensure, Kyle co-founded and formed Beacon of Hope, taking his passion to the community and schools.
This passion, coupled with a no refuse attitude, led to the belief that no one who desires help with counseling should go without services. Therefore, Beacon of Hope serves all clients without fees.
Kyle has done teaching, coaching, and preaching. He has served as an interim pastor, church treasurer, youth worker, board member, and janitor. Kyle resides in Zeeland with his wife Kristin, and their two daughters. Together they enjoy traveling, bike rides, Michigan football, being silly, and supporting one another’s activities.
Krista is honored to serve as Director of Counseling at Beacon of Hope. She holds a BA in Religion from Hope College and graduated with a MA in Mental Health Counseling from Trinity International University. Krista has worked in a variety of settings, including residential substance use treatment, home-based community programs for women and families, and outpatient counseling.
Krista is motivated by sharing with clients the hope and freedom her clients can find by leaving behind the world’s lies and finding purpose and worth as God’s children. She finds comfort in remembering Jesus’ promise, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Krista and her husband Steve live in Holland, MI with their daughter. She enjoys hosting family, sharing meals with friends and spending time outdoors at the beach or on hiking trails with her husband and dog.
Judy is a native to the West Michigan area and enjoys spending her free time reading, walking, and bicycling. She has two wonderful adult children.
Judy graduated from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Counseling. She joined Beacon of Hope as an intern in 2009 and became a member of the staff following graduation. She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Judy has experience working with women in a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, grief/loss, stress, anger, and low self-esteem.
Judy chose to return to school because of her own history with depression. She knows the emptiness and despair that comes from losing hope. However, and most importantly, she also knows the joy and peace that overflows in your life when God provides emotional and spiritual healing. It is this joy and peace she longs to share with her clients.
